Control Risks

Creating a global brand identity for a risk consultancy.

Problem

Control Risks are a risk consultancy, they help global businesses navigate and protect against everything from terror and cyber-attack to stock market collapse and kidnapping. They deal with big, knotty, hard-to-explain topics every day, and they needed a way to cut through that complexity with clarity and confidence in order to communicate who they are and what they do.

Solution

I partnered with a brand designer to explore how a business dealing with such diverse and dangerous situations could speak with consistency and simplicity. As part of our research and discovery, we spoke to people across Control Risks including directors, consultants and analysts, to understand their roles and what they needed from a new brand identity. We then explored multiple options and worked directly with the project’s client team to develop the business’s new look and sound together.

Impact

At the end of the process, Control Risks had a new identity that included visual assets and a tone of voice, along with guidelines to help the organisation implement it all on their website, in their white papers and as part of their client proposals.

A white page from the Control Risks brand book explaining the brand's tone of voice principles.

A page from the final brand book created for this project.
